or the latest edition of DPK Floral Magazine, top designers Max van de Sluis and Hanneke Frankema created some amazing spring arrangements using Marginpar flowers! We’re highlighting three designs from each designer below. Feeling ready for spring? These ideas might be just what you need!
Thistles as a base
Max often works with sustainable bases from Oasis for his designs. For this first piece, he used Bio Foam, starting with Eryngium Magnetar Questar® as a base. Its deep, steady colour creates a lovely contrast with the brighter summer flowers he added. Here, he used blooms like Clematis Amazing® Star River, Muscari, and Ranunculus. By arranging the flowers in a criss-cross pattern, he achieved an airy, natural effect. A perfect table piece to bring spring into your home!
Wild and layered
This design combines Oasis Bio Foam and TerraBrick for extra stability. Max began with blooming Witch Hazel branches (Hamamelis), then added a wide variety of flowers for a wild and characterful look. You can really make it your own – go for one colour in different shades, or mix darker and lighter tones like Max did here. In this piece, you’ll spot our rich Sanguisorba Red Dream® and Talinum ‘Long John’, beautifully contrasted with the soft Polianthes Elsa Blush and cheerful Chasmanthium Latifolium Mantis.
Yellow on yellow
A bright spring collection wouldn’t be complete without a cheerful Solidago Carzan Glory wreath! Max created this one in Oasis Floral Foam Bio and topped it off with matching daffodils. A lovely ton-sur-ton design that just makes you smile!
Endless variations
Hanneke loves using water tubes as the base for her designs. In this ceramic bowl, the tubes are held in place by wooden cylinders. Sustainability is important to her, and for this piece, she used leftover wood from a staircase maker – giving it new life. The best part? You can reuse this base again and again, with endless flower combinations! For this one, she used blooms like Clematis Amazing® Sevilla, Ranunculus, and Gloriosa Superba Simba Fifty Shades. A stunning combo!
A new setup
Here, Hanneke created another reusable base – again combining wood and glass tubes. This time, the tubes are linked together with rubber rings, allowing the shape to be adjusted however you like. She added a mix of flowers, keeping things light with the playful, airy Talinum ‘Long John’, and adding strong accents with Ranunculus and Gloriosa Superba Simba Fifty Shades.
Dried Craspedia
Craspedia dries beautifully – and Hanneke shows just how well it works in this design. She used dried Craspedia heads to form the base of a heart! In her signature style, she wired them together, then added various fresh flowers for a cheerful result.
More inspiration
These designs show how you can combine sustainable techniques, playful shapes, and bold colours to create surprising spring bouquets and arrangements. Let them inspire you to add your own twist to the season and surprise your customers with special, handmade designs.
