Jacobaea Ovidius

The plant of the Jacobaea also carries flowers, but we grow it for the visually attractive grey, almost silver, leaves. Jacobaea originally grew on the coast, where the velvety leaves protected the plant from the salty sea air.

Jacobaea 'Ovidius' is named after ‘Publius Ovidius Naso’, one of the greatest Roman poets of his time. In his masterpiece, the Metamorphoses, he describes the Greek mythology from the strong Heracles to the brave Achilles. In later centuries his work inspired countless artists such as Botticelli, Bernini, Poussin and Rubens and served as a source of inspiration for Shakespeare's famous tragedy 'Romeo and Juliet'. Ovidius' poetry is known for its playful and innovative character. The Jacobaea 'Ovidius' also has these characteristics. A good match.
