Ethiopia

Ethiopia is the largest and most populated country in the Horn of Africa with more than 105 million people. The country lies completely within the tropical latitudes and is relatively compact. The seasons in Ethiopia perfectly complement the seasons of Kenya. During drier periods in Kenya, Ethiopia enjoys a milder climate. This allows us to produce all year round with smart use of different climate zones.

The capital is Addis Ababa, located almost at the centre of the country. Holeta is a town located in the Oromia Region, a very conducive environment for Horticulture. The three production sites Marginpar Ethiopia, Larca and Simba are located nearby this small town.

MARGINPAR ETHIOPIA FARM

This production company covers 60 hectares of cultivated area, spread over three production sites, and is located near Holeta, west of the capital Addis Abeba (“New Flower”), at an altitude of 2,500 meters.

Marginpar Ethiopia PLC is located 9 km from Holeta town. It covers 36 hectares. At this location we mainly grow the Eryngium Questar® varieties, the Astrantia Star® series, Alchemilla and Campanula.

L'Arca Investement PLC is sited at almost the same area, 4 km from Holeta on the way to Marginpar Ethiopia farm. It covers 24 hectare and so far half of the area is developed, producing mainly Eryngium Questar® varieties, Daucus and Campanula.

Simba Horticulture PLC is another new developing site located nearby the two others. Currently we are developing the last 5 hectares out of the total available 22 hectare. Project development is going on and we plan to reach around 16 hectare this year. This farm produces mainly Eryngium Questar® varieties and Agapanthus.

Marginpar Ethiopia is MPS ABC and MPS SQ certified.
The MPS-ABC certificate is a unique world standard and works as a benchmark in demonstrating to what extent our operations are environmentally friendly. There are three different levels, MPS-A, MPS-B and MPS-C. MPS-A certified is the most environmentally friendly. MPS-SQ stands for ‘Socially Qualified’ and focuses on Health & Safety, and good working conditions.
